Recent Changes to Skilled Migration Visa Legislation

Major changes have recently been made to General Skilled Migration (GSM) visa legislation and Skills Assessment Authority processing guidelines.  If you are unsure of the new changes please consult with one of our qualified agents before proceeding with making an application for a GSM visa.

An Overview of recent changes to GSM legislation;

Changes to Offshore GSM visa applications lodged before the 1st of September, 2007;

Changes to Onshore GSM visa applications on the 8th of February, 2010;

Introduction of the Job Ready Program (JRP) by TRA on the 1st of January, 2010 - affecting all onshore GSM applicants applying for skills assessment in trade occupations;

Removal of the Migration Occupation Demand List (MODL) on the 8th of February, 2010;

Priority Processing changes introduced on the 8th of February, 2010;

Changes to the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) in mid-2010;

Removal of the Critical Skills List (CSL) in mid-2010;
