International students who have graduated from an Australian Educational Institution that meet the basic requirements of age, skill and the 2 year study requirement in addition to meeting the points test may make an application for a Permanent Skilled Independent visa.
Those students meeting the basic requirements of age, skill and the 2 year study requirement that are unable to meet the points test score of 120 may make an application for the Skilled Graduate visa. Once granted this visa, holders are given 18 months to gain additional points required in order to meet the points score through either:
Completing 12 months work experience in Australia; or
By improving their English language skills.
Holders of the Skilled-Graduate visa may make an application for a Permanent Skilled-Independent visa at any time once they have gained the additional points in order to meet the required points test score (currently 120).
