Student Guardian Visas (Subclass 580)

International Students in Australia may require a guardian if they are under the age of 18. These guardians are required to apply for a Student Guardian visa

The guardian may be able to bring dependent children with them to Australia if the child is under 6 years of age.

Guardians may not work whilst they are in Australia on the Student Guardian visa.

Eligibility- You must meet the following criteria:

Relationship to student: The guardian must be over 21, related as a parent, legal guardian or close relative to the student and able to provide accomodation, general welfare and other support to the student;

Health Requirements: You must meet certain health requirements and may need to undergo a health examination. These examinations must not be completed more than 6 months before the student's course commencement;

Health Insurance: You will need to have Overseas Visitors Health Coverage for the duration of the Student Guardian visa.

Character Requirements: You must be of good character. This will be determined at the time of application.

Financial Requirements: You must declare on your application that you have enough money to pay for travel to Australia and living expenses while you are in Australia for yourself and any dependent children under six years of age included in your application.
