Threshold Criteria

The basic threshold criteria state that:

The primary applicant must be aged between 18 and 45 years of age;

The primary applicant must satisfy the minimum English language ability requirement;

The primary applicant must be able to receive a positive skills assessment for an occupation listed on the Skilled Occupation List;

The primary applicant must meet the 2 year study requirement rule; or

The primary applicant must be able to demonstrate that they have worked for 12 out of the last 24 months in an area related to an occupation listed on the Skilled Occupation List.

Primary applicants who meet the 2 year study requirement rule may apply for onshore skilled visas. Alternatively, primary applicants who rely on having satisfied the work experience criteria must apply for offshore skilled visas. Please speak to your Agent about implications relating to both onshore and offshore visa applications.
